SDI Structures provided structural engineering services for Hinterland Brewery, a 20,000-square-foot restaurant and functioning brewery located within Green Bay’s Titletown District, directly across from Lambeau Field. Designed by ROSSETTI, the project draws inspiration from the industrial heritage of the Great Lakes region, using a restrained palette of steel, brick, and glass to create a distinctive destination for dining, brewing, and gathering. The building’s structural steel is intentionally expressed throughout the project, making the structure an integral part of the architectural experience rather than something concealed behind finishes.
The building is organized around a series of structural steel frames that serve as the primary gravity and lateral systems, with custom-fabricated roof bents creating the distinctive form of the building and bringing natural light into the interior. Exposed beams, steel purlins, sculptural stairways, and a mezzanine overlooking the brewing equipment extend the structural expression throughout the public spaces. SDI worked closely with the design and construction team to develop a structural system that combines technical performance with architectural character. The resulting project demonstrates how structural steel can serve simultaneously as an efficient building system, a defining design element, and a visible expression of craftsmanship—an approach recognized with a 2020 AISC IDEAS² National Award and a 2018 AIA Michigan Design Award.
