Glick Indoor Practice Facility

The Al Glick Field House provides the University of Michigan football program with a premier indoor practice facility, designed to accommodate a full-size field and create a year-round training environment. The 104,000 SF building was carefully integrated into the athletic campus, complementing Schembechler Hall and reinforcing Michigan’s commitment to providing best-in-class resources for its athletes.

From a structural perspective, the primary challenge was achieving a wide-open interior without columns interrupting the field of play. SDI Structures delivered this through a system of long-span steel trusses that extend more than 200 feet, creating a truly unobstructed training environment. Strategic bracing and foundation systems provide stability against Michigan’s demanding climate conditions, while careful detailing ensures both durability and efficiency. The result is a facility that not only meets the University’s immediate needs but also stands as a long-term asset for Michigan Athletics.
